Windows Server 2003 Installation Instructions

Prerequisite Software:

• Microsoft Powerpoint 2007
  • If installing PowerPoint 2007 only, install all Office Shared Features and Office Tools.
• Quicktime 7   Download from Apple
• Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0
• Windows Media Services (WMS) 9
• Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 and .NET 4.0 are required
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1   Download from Microsoft
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0   Download from Microsoft
• Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5 (SQL Prereq)   Download from Microsoft
• Microsoft Windows Powershell 1.0  Download from Microsoft
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express (w/Advanced Services)  (32-bit)   (64-bit)

How to Install Prerequisite Software

Licensing

Panopto Focus 3.0 now features server and client licensing.  Before installing Panopto on the server, you must complete the following steps to ensure that your server will function properly after installing Focus 3.0.

1. Download the following program to your Panopto server.  This program will generate a key based on certain identifiers within the server hardware.
   Download GetMachineCode.exe
2. Locate and run GetMachineCode.exe
3. When the machine code is generated, copy the entire key and send it in an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Our support team will generate a license key based on the machine code and respond with a license based on your service agreement with Panopto.  Once you have received the license key from support, you may continue with upgrading your server below.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

• If installing PowerPoint 2007 only, install all Office Shared Features and Office Tools.

Installing IIS on Microsoft Windows Server 2003

*You may need the Windows Server 2003 install disks*

1. Open Control Panel
2. Select Add or Remove Programs
3. Select Add/Remove Windows Components (left side of screen)
4. Select Application Server
5. Click on Details
6. Check the box for ASP.NET
7. Check the box for Internet Information Services (IIS)

Installing Windows Media Services

1. Open Control Panel
2. Select Add or Remove Programs
3. Select Add/Remove Windows Components
4. Select Windows Media Services

Installing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Installing .NET Framework 4.0  (Both .NET 3.5.1 and 4.0 are required!)

1. Download from Microsoft
2. Run the installation file "dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe"
3. Read and accept the terms of the license agreement and click Install
4. Click Finish when complete.

Installing Windows Installer 4.5

1. Download from Microsoft  (Select version based on Server OS)
2. Run the installation file "WindowsServer2003-KB942288-v4-XXX.exe"
3. At initial screen, click Next
4. Read and accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next
5. Once installation is complete, click Finish and restart.

Installing Windows Powershell 1.0

1. Download from Microsoft
2. Run the installation file "WindowsServer2003-KB926139-v2-x86-ENU.exe"
3. At initial screen, click Next
4. Read and accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next
5. Once installation is complete, click Finish.

Installing SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Services

1. Download from Microsoft  (32-bit)   (64-bit)
2. Run the installation file "SQLEXPADV_x86_ENU.exe" or "SQLEXPADV_x64_ENU.exe"
3. At initial Installation Center screen, click "New Installation or add features to an existing installation.
4. Setup will check prerequisites and then continue automatically.  If any prerequisite software is missing, please resolve and restart installation.
5. Read and accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next
6. On the Feature Selection screen, select only the features you see below and click Next
7. On the Instance Configuration screen, maintain default settings and click Next.  (Do not change Named Instance setting.
8. On Server Configuration screen, click "Use the same account for all SQL Server services" and browse for "NT AuthorityNetwork Service" then click Next
9. On the Database Engine Configuration screen, maintain the defaults and click Next
10. Click Next at the Error Reporting screen.
11. When the installation completes, click Close.  It is recommended that you reboot the server at this time.

After you have installed the prerequisite software you may continue on to being installing Panopto Focus 3.0
