Creating a New User

To access the CourseCast Admin functions, log on to the CourseCast sever with an account that has access.

1. Click on "Presenters and Staff"

2. Insert admin username and password.  Click "Log In" (If Active Directory is enabled, please choose the appropriate domain, from the "Log In Using" drop down box).

Creating a new user can be completed by clicking on"Admin" on the left hand side of your screen.

At the Admin page, click on "Create new user..."

Fill in the information about the user that you are creating. Once completed, click "Create User" an e-mail will be sent to notify the new user of their account information.

Click the button "Select User Roles".

System Roles:

Administrators have access to all parts of the CourseCast system.  They have the ability to add/delete users, folders, sessions, etc...  We recommend only giving administrative rights to select users.

Videographers have the ability to add folders and sessions as well as record for those folders.  They also have the ability to present PowerPoint files and to capture presentations via Screen Capture.  We recommend giving A/V professionals the Videographer role. 

If you selected a one of the above options, click the button "Update Roles".

If you do not select a checkbox, a user is created without any rights.  If you wanted to restrict access to a folder to one particular user, you would leave these boxes unchecked and create the user.  Then go to the session or folder that you want to restrict access to and add this user as a Creator and/or Viewer for that recording/folder.

Presenter Roles:

Within the dropdown box, if folders are already created, you can choose one or multiple folders for which the user can present (record) to.

Viewer Roles:

Within the dropdown box, if folders are already created, you can choose one or multiple folders for which the user can view recordings.
