2.1 Recorder Installation
This document will walk you through installation of the CourseCast 2.1 Recorder on a Windows based computer. The software can generally be run successfully on any computer that can run Windows XP or Vista with the biggest consideration being given to having plenty of hard drive space available for long lectures.

Specifications
- Windows XP or Windows Vista
- Dual core 1.8ghz / 1GB RAM (recommended)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
- FireWire ports for digital cameras
- USB ports for Webcams or other recording devices
- Disable sleep mode, screen savers and scheduled tasks
Install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Download from Microsoft
The recorder will auto-install .NET 3.5 SP1 for you if it is not detected.
Install Silverlight 2 Beta 1 (only required for viewing recordings)

Installation
1. Run the Panopto Recorder Installation File (http://yourcoursecastserver/coursecast/software/panoptorecorder.exe)
2. Locate PanoptoRecorder.exe and run application
3. When prompted, click Next at the “Welcome to Panopto Recorder Setup Wizard” window
4. The CourseCast 2.1 Recorder allows recordings to be uploaded while the Recorder is closed. If you would like to enable this feature, choose Yes here.
A service, Recorder.exe, will be installed and will run while the Panopto Recorder is closed in order to upload your recordings. Click Next when ready.
5. Click Next to accept the default settings, or make changes and click Next
6. Click Next to install the Panopto Recorder
7. Click Close to finalize the installation of Panopto Recorder
