Enable Secure Login (SSL)
When you enable SSL on a Panopto server, please note that it is not enabling site-wide SSL. We currently only use SSL at any login prompt or page with sensitive information.
After installing, you will notice that the URL for your organization's site is https, and not http. Please give us a call or contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you would like to discuss this issue further.
Click here if you do not have an SSL certificate (required for initial install)
Click here if you already have an SSL certificate
Install SSL Certificate (Trusted Certificate)
*This step is only necessary if you are purchasing a trusted SSL Certificate from a third-party provider.
Step 1.)
Open IIS 7 Manager on your Panopto Web Server.

Step 2.)
Navigate to and highlight your Panopto Server name.

Step 3.)
In 'Features' view, double-click 'Server Certificates' under the "IIS" heading.

Step 4.)
In the 'Actions' pane, click 'Complete Certificate Request' which will open the the 'Complete Certificate Request' wizard.

Step 5.)
Browse to and select the '.cer' certificate file that was provided to you by your third-party Certificate Authority, type a friendly name for the certificate (for example: "panopto.myschool.com"), and then click 'OK'.

Create a Self-Signed SSL Certificate
*This step is only necessary if not purchasing a trusted SSL Certificate from a third-party provider.
Step 1.)
Open IIS 7 Manager on your Panopto Web Server.

Step 2.)
Navigate to and highlight your Panopto Server name.

Step 3.)
In 'Features' view, double-click 'Server Certificates' under the "IIS" heading.

Step 4.)
In the 'Actions' pane, click 'Create Self-Signed Certificate'.

Step 5.)
On the 'Create Self-Signed Certificate' page, type a friendly name for the certificate (for example: "panopto.myschool.com") in the 'Specify a friendly name for the certificate' box, and then click 'OK'.

Apply SSL Certificate Binding to your Site
Step 1.)
Open IIS 7 Manager on your Panopto Web Server.

Step 2.)
Navigate to and expand your Panopto Server name, expand 'Web Sites', and highlight 'Default Web Site'.

Step 3.)
In the 'Actions' pane, click 'Bindings'.

Step 4.)
Click the 'Add' button.

Step 5.)
In the 'Add Web Site Binding' box, make sure that 'https' is selected for 'Type', 'All Unassigned' is selected for 'IP address', '443' is entered for 'Port', and select your cert from the 'SSL certificate' drop-down box.

Click 'OK' on the 'Add Web Site Binding' box
Step 6.)
Click 'Close' on the 'Web Site Bindings' box.

Enable SSL on your Panopto Site
*This step MUST be done AFTER the SSL Certificate has been installed and binded to your site
Step 1.)
Sign on to your Panopto WebUI with an admin account.

Step 2.)
Navigate to 'System' and then 'Settings'.

Step 3.)
Type 'SecureLoginPage' (without quotes) in the dialog box and then click 'Add Setting'.

This will add "SecureLoginPage" as an entry in your settings.
Step 4.)
Navigate to the newly created setting. Select 'True' from the drop-down box and then click 'Save'

After you've added the certificate and enabled the SecureLoginPage setting, restart IIS.
