Configuration of External Providers

Log into your Panopto instance Web interface with an Administrator account
Once logged in to Panopto, expand the "System" menu on the left, and select "Providers". Once in "Providers" we want to "Add Provider"
Instance Name: (enter a name to identify this External Provider... ex: “CanvasPanopto”)
You may enter what you wish to use for your own personal identifier, your choice does not affect anything else
Bounce Page URL: Enter the URL of your Canvas instance

Click Save when you have entered this information. An Application Key ("Shared Secret" inCanvas settings) will be provided, and will be required in the configuration of Canvas in the next step.
Once your Providers are set up in Panopto, log into your Canvas instance as an Administrator. Navigate to Settings > External Tools and Click “Add External Tool”

The “Edit External Tool” will open. The tool name should be something easily recognizable, so teachers can pick it out of a list when adding this tool to their courses. The consumer key is the instance name you entered in Panopto, the Shared Secret is the application key that was generated by Panopto after the provider was saved. Set Configuration Type: to “Manual Entry”, Match by: to “Domain”. The Domain is the hostname of your Panopto’s server (Ex: http://panopto.school.edu) and then set Privacy: to “Public”

Click “Save Tool Settings”
